Tentative Fall Football Schedule, Ranks Released

Hauppauge Eagles move up a division, but once against are seeded No. 11.

 

Section XI has tentatively set the schedules and rankings for Division I-IV football.

Hauppauge varsity football will start the 2011 season in a higher division, stepping up to Division II,  but are seeded No. 11 out of 14 teams. The team will find itself in a similar situation to their 2010 season.

The Eagles finished their 2010 season 4-4 in Suffolk County Division III play despite ranked No. 10. The team missed the playoffs due to their final 33-19 loss to the Amityville Warriors. Hauppauge had several close games which were determined in the final seconds including a 24-21 loss to Miller place and 7-6 loss to Westhampton. 

However, the Eagles will face a new set of challenges in 2011. They will not face off against  any of the eight teams they competed against in the fall are in division two. Hauppauge will face new competitors, some for the first time.

Hauppauge opens its season by traveling to Walt Whitman, a team who went 1-7 in Division I during 2010, on Sept. 10. 

Hopefully, the Eagles have gained valuable experience last season that will help them find their way in 2011. Starting last season, the team only had 2 out of their 22 starters returning. Hauppauge expects to graduate 16 out of the 37 members on its squad, among them are quarterback Mike Ortolani, Anthony Brody-Santos, Chanse Menendez and Dom Repole.

  • Week 8: Oct. 29 v. Half Hollow Hills East
