Wins All Around For Eagles Basketball, Wrestling

Hauppauge basketball earns a pair of wins, while wrestling takes one step closer to county.

Hauppauge boys and girls basketball teams were a victorious pair, as both bring home the wins in the mid-season to as the season begins to look towards the playoffs. Wrestling hosted their second annual despite the threat of snow, and in back-to-back league meets pulled off a second win in a week. 

Hauppauge boys basketball keeps it at .500

Eagles boys varsity basketball took the upper hand early to beat Comsewogue, 59-43, on Thursday. This brought their league season record to 2-2, overall record to 5-5 to keep them .500 midway through the season.

Senior John Velazquez scored five 3-pointers and a total game-high of 24 points to lead Hauppauge to victory.

Eagles girls varsity basketball hit the road to take on Comsewogue while the boys played at home. They brought home victory with a 53 - 46 win on Thursday.

Sophomore Julie Williams increasingly shows her leadership on the offense scoring a game high of 25 points, significant leap from over her previous career high of 18 points.  

The win puts Hauppauge's league record at at 3-1,  tying them for second place in League IV with Bellport who they lost to last week by a close margin of 38-35. 

Wrestling team remains undefeated at midpoint

The snow day didn't slow down Hauppauge wrestling who traveled Thursday to compete against Eastport-South Manorville. They showed their dominance with a 48-25 win, their fourth of the season at its midpoint. 

Hauppauge took control of the meet in the middle weights, making four consecutive pins: Nick Mauriello in 2 minutes 25 seconds the 130-lb weight class, Mike Ehlinger in the 1:54 at 135-lb class, John Shatoff in 1:59lb at the 140 pound class, and Adam Lepkowsky in 3:40 at the 145-lb class.
