TFCU & GrooveCars' Car of the Week: The 2014 Ford Mustang

For the month of September, TFCU and Groove Car are offering exclusive deals to make attaining your dream car even easier!

We're both proud to bring you the #CaroftheWeek- a celebration of all things automotive. This week we've selected an American icon, but you can suggest the next cars to be featured by reaching out to RichardM@TeachersFCU.org.

Thanks to the Ford Mustang, the automotive world has never been the same. Since it's introduction in 1964, the Mustang has gone through many iterations, from the legendary Boss 302, to the pretty awful early 80's offerings (a Ghia Mustang...really?), the car has kept up with the times and constantly evolved. One thing has remained consistent- the car stirs souls and turns heads as it rumbles down the road.

Since 2005, the Mustang has undergone a retro rebirth that sparked a renaissance of the American Muscle-Car era, with Dodge and Chevy joining in- The winner from all this competition? The consumer. With great offerings starting at around $23,000, today's muscle cars are a performance bargain- the Mustang especially. Even today's base-level Mustang is powered by a 305 horsepower V6, giving consumers performance for an affordable price.

Today's Pony Car offers retro styling that harkens back to the heyday of the muscle-car era, but offers amenities of a modern sports car (except independent rear suspension).

While the V6 is a great reconciliation between power (305hp) and fuel economy at 30 mpg highway, muscle car purists will opt for the Mustang GT, packed with a 5.0 Coyote V8 that serves up 420 horsepower. Unlike the muscle cars of yesteryear, today's offerings offer the ability to handle as well as the power to win those impromptu competitions at stoplights.

With a new model on the horizon that looks be slimmer, more aggressive and still carry on the pony car tradition, now is the time to take advantage of the muscle car renaissance.

Visit one of Long Island's Ford dealers for a test drive. Whether you're buying a used or new car, be sure to take advantage of our Credit Union's low rates! Also, don't forget to print out and bring your GrooveCar Auto Coupon to the LRRC when you're ready to buy!
