Celebrities' Signatures to be Auctioned by LI Cares

Billy Joel, Taylor Swift and others sign drum heads to be auctioned off for LI Cares Endowment Fund.

Celebrities are signing up to help "Beat an End to Hunger" for in Hauppauge. 

LI Cares in partnership with D`Addario & Company to launch a new fundraiser  called "Beat an End To Hunger" to support the LI Cares Endowment Fund, to provide a steady fiscal income for the nonprofit to carry out its mission. 

Through "Beat an End to Hunger," the nonprofit is soliciting A-list musicians and celebrities to autograph custom-made drum heads that will be framed and then auctioned online and at various special events.

" 'Beat an End to Hunger' seemed to be a natural concept for us to launch in an effort to support our endowment program since the endowment campaign is chaired by Pat Benatar and other musicians and artists had expressed an interest in supporting our efforts as a tribute to Harry Chapin's legacy," said Paule Pachter, executive director of LI Cares. 

Long Island's own piano man Billy Joel, Taylor Swift, Tony Bennett, Cyndi Lauper, LL Cool J, Joe Walsh, Jen Chapin and Cesar Millan have already signed drum heads that will be put up for auction on LI Cares website starting this month.

Several local entertainment businesses are aiding "Beat and End to Hunger' by providing access to celebrities including Live Nation at Westbury, James Faith Entertainment, JVC Broadcasting and the Paramount in Huntington. 

Parthenon Framing, based in Bohemia, will custom fram each drum head prior to its sale.
