Radio Stations Raise 15,692 Pounds of Food for LI Cares

JVC Broadcasting fundraiser at Centereach Walmart will provide 13,225 meals for Long Island Families.

JVC Broadcasting personalities raised 15,692 pounds of food for in Hauppauge at a "Food Fight" fundraiser on Nov. 19 and 20. 

Radio personalities from  My Country, 96.1 Party 105.3, LaFiesta 98.5 and WRCN 103.9 encouraged listeners and shoppers of the Centereach Walmart to help stuff trucks representing each individual station, to see who could raise the most food. 

"This was truly an aggressive event, but the weather completely cooperated and the four JVC stations and their fans were so enthusiastic about competing to feed the hungry and we were very happy to share this event with Brookhaven Interface," said Elana Sissons, food drive coordinator for Long Island Cares.

The food raised by JVC Broadcasting will allow LI Cares to feed 13,225 meals to hungry families on Long Island this holiday season. In addition, LI Cares shared 9,154 pounds of food with Brookhaven Interface.
