Hauppauge's SCPA Asks for Help to Save Emaciated Horses

Two horses, one being a thoroughbred, were rescued this week in Center Moriches.

The Suffolk County SPCA, located in Hauppauge, announced that it rescued two emaciated horses from a Center Moriches location Thursday.

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that the organization received a complaint that the horses were emaciated.

An investigation determined that the horses, one of which is a thoroughbred, were thin and had no feed or hay. In photos provided by the SPCA, the horses ribs and hip bones were seen protruding outward.
