Helping Dog Hit By Car Goal of Ronkonkoma Campaign

Orzo needs a hip surgery for his recovery.

A Ronkonkoma GoFundMe campaign is trying to help a dog hit by a car on Dec. 29 get the surgical treatment he needs.

The campaign's page describes the dog, named Orzo, as a rescue who has gone from having an abusive past to becoming a wonderful dog for a loving family. The campaign says that the person who drove the car, hitting Orzo, had taken off without a trace.

"However, he was lucky to be so close to home," the page writes. "He was rushed to Atlantic Coast Veterinary Hospital within an hour of the accident."

While the hospital's staff took care of Orzo, he requires a hip operation that is prohibitively expensive for the family.

The surgery is listed as costing $3,000 on top of $1,850 the family has already expensed. The campaign is listing a $5,000 goal and has raised $825 over six days, as of this writing.
