The Hauppauge Fire Department has humble beginnings as a 14-member company founded in 1931 for the protection of its…More residents. As the community has grown from a rural town to a sprawling suburb of residential, industrial and county properties, the professional volunteer fire department has expanded considerably to include three engine companies, one truck company, fire police, a technical rescue team, ladies auxiliary unit and junior explorers. Its members are led by Department Chief Raymond Germaine.
The main firehouse located on Wheeler Road is the base of operations for Engine Co. 4 led by Capt. Mike Romito and Truck Co. 1 led by Capt. Stephen Feron. Capt. John Lombardo is in charge of Engine Co. 2 which is based out of Station 2 on Terry Road in Hauppauge. Engine Co. 3 is headed by Capt. John Fetzer out of Hauppauge Fire Department's Station 1 on Ledgewood Drive in Smithtown.

This…More group consists of businessmen from a variety of companies in Hauppauge working to make a difference in their immediate community and the world. The Rotary is involved in Hauppauge School District's annual Safe Halloween and awards an annual scholarship to a graduating senior chosen as "Student of the Year." It sponsors a Kids ID program through fingerprinting and identification cards with the Hauppauge Fire Department.
