Tie-Wearing Boy Wins Award from New York Knicks
James Funaro of Nesconset will get "City Spirit" award for his fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The efforts of the necktie-donning Nesconset boy who raised more than $9,000 for a Make-A-Wish child will be recognized by the New York Knicks Wednesday before they tip-off against the Detroit Pistons. James Funaro will accept January’s “Sweetwater Clifton ‘City Spirit’ Award” that honors people whose efforts have significantly helped those in need. The 7-year-old combined his efforts to break a world record for most consecutive days wearing a tie with fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, accepting donations from people from as far as Texas, Illinois and Florida.
