Kotobuki Gets Nod Among Top 10 Sushi Restaurants on LI

Reviewer points out yellowtail jalapeno as one of its specialities.

Hauppauge's Kotobuki has been tapped as one of the top 10 sushi restaurants on Long Island by Newsday.

Established in 1987 as a small eatery at 377 Nesconset Highway in Hauppauge, Kotobuki has since expanded to three locations in total: Roslyn, Hauppauge and Babylon. Rated number one in the Japanese food category on Long Island; reviewers report that the food is "supremely fresh," service is "lively" and the rooms are separately decorated.

Patch Regional Editor Henry Powderly recently gave Kotobuki a try. Here's what he had to say:

"There are the finer things in life, and then there is the Chirashi lunch at Kotobuki in Hauppauge.

You know this to be true, yes?

Big mound of sushi rice with slices of salmon, tuna, yellowtail and other goodies. Salad and miso and a steaming mug of green tea on the side.

Peace of mind for $14, in Hauppauge."

What do you think of Kotobuki? What's your favorite sushi restaurant?
