Scenes From the Hauppauge Farmers Market

The Hauppauge farmers market was off to a strong start Thursday as shoppers came to check out the goods.

One can find delicious, local food including handmade French crepes, specialty pickles, live crabs, freshly picked strawberries, vegetables, honey, breads, baked goods, flowers and more.

The farmers market is open every Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. this summer at Teachers Federal Credit Union, 102 Motor Pkwy., Hauppauge.

Suffolk County Legis. John M. Kennedy, Jr. said that the location of the market is especially important, since it is very near to what's known as a "food desert" in Brentwood, where there is little to no availability of local, fresh food.

Check out the video above to view scenes from the market.
