Sport Clips, Where Barber Shop Meets Clubhouse, Moves In

Workers on Wednesday were setting up shop for the areas newest spot to grab a haircut ... and check out the big game at the same time.

Sport Clips is set to open in May, and workers on site confirmed they are right on schedule.

Here's info from our May 1 story, written by Sara Walsh, which has a few extra details:

Sport Clips has leased about 1,150 square feet in the Hauppauge Shopping Center next door to Red Mango, in the storefront that was previously the Army Career. The franchise's first Long Island salon is located in Selden's Independence Mall.

A sign taped to the door of the Hauppauge location advertises the store is now hiring a manager, staff and hair stylists. Franchise owner Tony Wills could not be reached for more details.

Sports Clips is based in Georgetown, Texas and was started in 1993, according to its website. The sports-themed haircutting franchise specializes in cuts for men and boys. It is known for its "MVP Experience" that includes a precision haircut, scalp massage with Tea Tree shampoo, classic barbershop-style hot towel treatment, and a relaxing neck and shoulder massage.
