UPDATED: Two Children Injured in Route 111 Crash

Update: June 18, 2 p.m.
Three people were injured in Tuesday's accident on Route 111; one adult and two young children. Suffolk County police did not release their names or condition.

A serious truck accident has closed Route 111 in Smithtown bringing Main Street to a crawl.

Suffolk County police said a truck and SUV collided on Route 111 in Smithtown, south of the Village Center shopping plaza, at 9:34 a.m. 

A helicopter was called in to transport those seriously injured to Stony Brook Hospital.

Police have closed down Route 111 at Smithtown Main Street south to Mount Pleasant Road.
