Here's what residents should know about today in Hauppauge.

Good morning, Hauppauge. Here's a look at what to know about today in town...

Congratulations to the Hauppauge Eagles 8U travel team, which captured its first NJBL championship by defeating the Blue Collar Bulldogs of Oyster Bay 7-4 at the HYO baseball complex on Saturday.

The win was the team's first NJBL championship. According to a post on the Patch boards, the team had a terrific year having also captured the regular season title with a record of 10 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties. Congratulations boys!

Here's what else you should know about today:

  • DDI is hosting an employment open house for teaching assistants for their Smithtown and Huntington locations. Head down to their Smithtown location at 99 Hollywood Drive from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Suffolk Legislator Lynne Nowick, R-St.James, cross endorsed Supervisor Patrick Vecchio and councilman Thomas McCarthy in their bids for re-election this upcoming November at The Watermill in Smithtown on Tuesday afternoon. 
  • The Smithtown Sheraton, located at 110 Motor Parkway in Hauppauge, was sold on Thursday to a Chinese company, SouFun Holdings Ltd.,
